SPA Foam Waterproof
Insulation Roofing Solutions
The SPA Foam Waterproof Insulation
Roofing
Solutions comprises of a thick seamless layer of lightweight yet hard
waterproofing insulation, which is spray applied to the outside surface
of a roof. The SPA Foam Waterproof Insulation Roofing Solutions
will
strengthen the existing roof and also offer exceptional Thermal and
Noise insulation properties.
The SPA Foam Waterproof Insulation
Roofing
Solutions is a viable long-term alternative to removing and replacing
the existing roofing material and as it is externally applied, can be
installed without affecting or disrupting the workplace beneath.
The SPA Foam Waterproof Insulation
Roofing
Solutions is suited to almost all common types of industrial roofing;
including corrugated fibro, aluminium, steel, concrete, timber,
asbestos, bitumen and can also be applied over various sheet membrane
systems.
A typical SPA Foam Waterproof
Insulation Roofing Solutions installation consists of a primed roof
substrate
covered with spray-applied SPA Foam insulation, and protected by an
elastomeric membrane. The function and nature of each of these
components is outlined in the subsequent sections.
Why is SPA Foam
Waterproof Insulation Roofing Solutions insulation such a good
waterproofing
barrier?
For two reasons: first,
spray-applied SPA System insulation has the ability to bridge over
cracks and holes to form a continuous blanket over the roof and,
secondly, SPA System insulation has a closed-cell structure which
effectively resists penetration by water.
The foam thickness can be
installed between 15mm to 25mm per pass, and extra layers can be added
without any negative consequences to the effectiveness of the system.
This is often very helpful where there may be low sections where water
may form large puddles on a roof / deck surface, extra foam layers may
be sprayed to build up these areas and minimise such large areas of
puddles. Please note however that due to the uneven surface and texture
of the foam, small puddles may occur on flat surfaces,
however this will not effect the
performance of the coating system where polyurethane elastomeric
topcoats are installed.
What is SPA Systems
insulation value?
Because the Thermal
conductivity of aged SPA System (0.023W/m degrees K) is the
lowest value (ie. the best insulant) of commonly used building
materials it is far more effective on an equivalent thickness basis.
As different thicknesses of
different materials have different insulation values, it is common to
specify required thermal performance in terms of Heat transfer
or Thermal resistance (“R” value).
R = thickness (m)/k
thus in the case of a metal roof that was to be insulated, if it was
desired to have a “R” value of 1.08, then it would require the addition
of a 25mm thick layer of SPA System or a 43mm layer of cork.
SPA
FOAM WATERPROOF INSULATION ROOFING SOLUTIONS - SUMMARY OF BENEFITS
| Feature |
Benefit |
| Waterproofs |
Moisture unable to enter through seams,
joints, fastener holes or corroded areas on substrate results in a
completely leak-free roof.
Even in situations of serious impact and damage to the SPA System, the
foam layer prevents water travelling through or under the foam.
